Encountering Composting
The topic of composting can be a wonderful way to integrate numerous important aspects of the BC Science Curriculum. Composting education can incorporate not only what happens to our food waste but also where our food comes from and our connection to our environment. As children make connections between their every day life in relation to food and the world around them they are then able to understand the significance of sustainable practices. Composting helps children develop environmental consciousness and advocate for an environmentally friendly culture in our contemporary world. Composting is an excellent platform for helping students understand the rich wisdom of aboriginal beliefs regarding our connections to the earth.
